Kelly Hu was born on February 13, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is a famous model and actress. Kelly Hu is a fourth-generation American with Chinese-Filipino-Hawaiian and English ancestry. Her father, Herbert, was a salesman and her mother, Juanita, worked many odd jobs to help support the family. She has one older brother, Glenn. She is a former Miss Teen USA, and modeled in Japan and Italy for several months before deciding to relocate to L.A. and try her hand at show business. She got her break on TV's "Growing Pains" (1985) in 1987 and never looked back.
Since she was a child she liked to sing, dance and she had a passion for martial arts.
In 1985 she took part at Miss Teen USA and she placed on the 1st place. Soon after she went to work in Italy and Japan. Her first role was in the television series Growing Pains. She later appeared in Tour of Duty, Melrose Place, Murder One and nearly 20 other series.
She moved to Los Angeles and in 1987 received a role in Growing Pains. This is how her acting career started. She won in 1993 the Miss Hawaii USA Contest and went into the final of Miss USA. In May 2002 and May 2005 she appeared in Maxim Magazine. You watched her lay massive kung fu beat downs on baddies as Detective Grace Chen in the action series Martial Law.
